Panchayat

A panchayat is a collective body of elected representatives established to manage the administrative affairs of Panchayati Raj institutions. For a grama panchayat, it serves as the primary committee that implements the decisions of the grama sabha and conducts daily administration. The key components of a panchayat include the President, who is the head of the panchayat, presides over meetings, and oversees its overall functioning; the Vice-President, who discharges duties in the absence of the President; Ward Members, who are the elected representatives from each ward of the panchayat; and Standing Committees, which are sub-committees formed for matters such as finance, development, welfare, and health and education to facilitate decision-making.
